I am ordering a pivot spring from lmc , because I broke my vent window pivot on drivers side . Is this the right part to fix this ? Is it hard to replace ? What is the best way to fix this ? Thanks for any help . KFLORD77.
Be super careful not to wreck your paint while your taking the frame out. Once you get it out of the door you can bang the retaining pin out with a small finishing nail.
Thanks, since the truck is primered no worries , I am still wondering if I bought the right part from lmc , it is called a pivot spring and does it have the retaining pin? KFLORD77
LMC couldnt tell you because you probably talked to some chick who couldnt pick a 73-79 truck out in a line up of all rice burners much less tell you if youre buying the right part to fix your problem. If what you bought doesnt have the pin let me know and Ill send you one.
Oooooooh.... I know what your talking about now. I thought you were talking about that little spring that pushes on the lock pin on the window handel. Never mind what I said in post #3
You may be able to get at it with a deep socket & a ratchet.
That would be a nightmare trying to reach up there with two hands and get all the washers in place, while trying to set the glass back in. The easiest way to do it would be the way Mil1ion said in post #2
I posted before but no luck on help , I bought the pivot spring from lmc but no pivot pin came with . Does anyone know if the pivot pin is connected to the vent frame? Mine is broke off and I can push the window in at the bottom and see the broken pivot pin still in place . Can I take the frame off and take the broken pivot pin out and have it welded to the frame? Then put it back together? Thanks for any help . KFLORD77 . Also bought new door switches from lmc and my passenger side works again , turns dome light on when door is open , the little things in life make me so happy .
You need an entire frame. The broken pin would be difficult to repair properly. It might be repairable tho... -just have to take it to a welder. Sorry we can't tell you more but we are not looking at the broken parts. Even pictures don't help in this situation.
