i have a 56 100 with a 95 camaro column and a toyota box. i'm putting in buckets and the wheel is too close to my fat stomach. plus i'm a short guy 5-6
though i'm not Buddah yet. can i move the box forward on the frame (maybe a inch or so) without changing the pitch of the column. right now i have a 4'' drop?
or will the column rise as it goes forward. does anyone have other ideas? maybe a different column? open to all suggestions thank you

A tilt column should help you. I put one in my '55 F100 and have lots of room now. I used a 30 inch Flaming River coulumn and a 3 inch drop. Pics are on my web page, see the link in my sig.
i have a 56-100 witn a 95 camaro column and toyota gear box. this was installed when i bought the truck. im changing bucket seats and the column is too close to my fat stomach plus im only 5-6. i'm not a buddah yet. anyways, can i move the gear box forward a inch or so on the frame rail and not raise the column in doing so? it looks like the gear adjustment may have a inch or so left. do i make sense? or i am open to any other advice you may have. the seat sits as far back as possible so im guessing i need to do some column work or replace? any ideas are appreciated. thank you
i do have tilt steering and i could always change the drop. it just seems as though i have no room for seat adjustments. right now the seat is all the way back and the column seems only a inch away. am i missing something?
Shorten the column, DON'T move the box, you're asking for trouble.
I had to shorten my Ididit column from 32 to 30" for the same reason.
If you are using a deep dish steering wheel, you may want it shorter yet.
