I am finishing the body swap and engine transplant on my 76 F150 body and 78 F250 4x4 frame. The motor is freshly rebuilt and ready to be installed. My problem is that the bellhousing is missing the motor bracket to mount the equalizer bar to the frame bracket. Does anybody know where I could find one of these brackets because the current setup does not work. The equalizer bar isnt long enough. Has anybody had this problem. Does anybody have this bracket laying around in a parts truck or their garage?
Thanks in advance,

I recently pulled my 390/T18 out of a 69 F100 2wd. It had a small 90degree angle iron bracket that I think bolted to a bellhousing hole (engine side) if I remember right that has the inner bushing for the Z-bar.
I don't think the FE bellhousing has this. Mine bolts up to the drivers side of the block at the rear. It has two holes that hole a bracket just in front of the bellhousing and this holds a ball that goes inside a tube that holds the two arms and then mounts to the frame.
If you look at the drivers side rear of the FE block, you should see two screw holes.
Went to install the 390 tonight and found out that the motor perch towers are not going to work. The engine mounts that was previously installed from the original engine are not going to work. Does anybody have a set of 360-390 motor perches from a 77-78 4x4 or am I barking up the wrong tree?

That sounds like the piece that I need. Do you still have the "L" bracket? The piece that Im looking at in the book has two bolt holes and the ball assembly attached on the side. It apprears to bolted to the back of the bellhousing if im not mistaken.

The front of the oil pan is hitting a little on the front crossmember also. the motor mounts dont line up and there is no modifying them to make them fit. (i.e. moving them forward or aft.) Will I have to find an aft sump oil pan and proper oil pickup tube to make this work?

Hootie the engine perches that your 78 frame is equipped with is I'm guessing are for a 351m400 engine. You will have to either move your engine perches back and weld them to your frame and shim them to match the motor mounts. Or you can modify a pre 77 set of 360/390 frame mounts to bolt in. I found a set of modified pre 77 mounts that fit into 77 1/2 to 79 Ford trucks.
The L bracket does bolt to the engine block like Karljay said. I swapped a 390 in my 79 f150 4wd in place of the old 300 six and the factory equalizer worked fine. Your clutch parts from the 76 frame should bolt to the 78 frame. Was your 76 a 4wd or 2wd.
2wd trucks used a front sump oil pan and 4wd use a rear to clear the front dif.
