Is it possible to have an intake leak that would not effect preformance (at least not noticable) ,and lower gas milage? ohh and creat a small studder at idle? the previous owner did some work and used the old intake gasket wondering if he damaged it.
As far as I know, the only gasket on the intake is the one between the TB and intake manifold. A small, non-rhythmic shudder is normal in these trucks.
Sorry its a 5.4 but new evidence to the scene! last night after giving the inside a good scrub down I went to move the truck to its parking spot and BEHOLD the MIL was on. So I pugged in the ol OTC scanner letter rip and Its telling be bank 2 is running lean. Lean shouldn't make the gas mileage got down but It does prob meen the O2s are in need of changing. I'm going to unplug them tonight and reset everything an see what It does by the end of the week.

My older truckes all had intake gaskets I worked on enough of them. I dont see why this one would be any different but Ill look it up in the book tonight, if it dosnt have them I only have to wonder how the keep a tight seal
It does have intake gaskets. They are different than old paper style ones though. These are rubber molded onto plastic.
A more common place for a vacuum leak on these engines is the PCV hose at the back of the throttle body but that usually effects both banks.
When the O2 reads lean the PCM tries to richen up the mixture to compensate which can make gas mileage worse.
I need to check the PCV valve any way since I don't think it has ever been done. wile im back there Ill have to prob around and make sure everything is sound. since its only bank 2 thats running lean im going to lean twords a bad 02 sensor and check them out. the only reason I thought intake gasket (before the code was thrown) is because when looking threw the trucks history the last owner did some work and reused the intake gasket instead of getting a new one wich jsut made me wonder.
