hacked AOL account... ???
then... it became kind of obvious he may have hacked into my AOL account, due to some of the information and stuff sent in the emails. personal conversations that was in emails to my friends also ended up in the harrassing emails from the coward.
i had AOL 5.0 at the time cause my old computer wouldnt allow the new software... now i have a new computer with AOL 9.0. i havent had any of these issues in quite a while.
by the way... there were up to 5-10 different, long, well written emails sent to me and my friends on a daily basis at all different times of the day. this went on for months. this person also made up fake profiles on yahoo, and myspace.com, to try to look like a legitimate person sending emails to my friends to try to wreck my image. sound a bit obsessive??? yeah....
i kept changing my password daily, and so on... what i want to know, is how does someone keep getting the password so easily?? is there a program out there thatll help in this matter? i just cant imagine someone being able to "guess" a persons password so many times and get it right.
anyone else had this problem ever?? how does someone get the passwords??
i havent had aol since about 1997. but i can assume that since all the comercials for the newest version talk about nothing but how safe and secure it is, that maybe they had problems with security in their older versions.
of course with a little tinkering there are ways to find out who your email attacker is. and if its someone you know then flame away at them

If they did they could have installed a keylogger program on it. This will record every key you type. Some programs can then send the info to a specific email address all done in the background.
They could also be connecting to you remotely, if they setup your PC.
THis is not just an AOL issue. It could happen with any ISP.
Also if this person knows you very well, then they could guess your password.
Some people use pet names, family, member birthdates, or things they like.
I have guessed some passwords correctly on customer PC's when I have to work on them. I don't know how hard you are making the new passwords, but it should be a combonation of letters and numbers. You can also include Capital letters and other characters.
1. I would make sure your antivirus program is up to date and do a full scan.
2. Remove any programs from your PC that you are not sure you installed. Be carefull you don't remove anything you need. Google the program name to find out what company created it before you remove it.
3. Make sure this person does not have access to your PC. Could also be someone else giving them the password. Especially if you are in a dorm or other multi person apartment.
If you don't find anything then as A last resort I would reformat the pc to make sure there is not anything lurking behind the scenes.
i am positive no one has ever used my computer... no one in my house or family uses any of my stuff, they pretty well stay away from it all so i know it wasnt an "inside job" lol.
now that this "password decoder" program has been mentioned... im mad i forgot the email address some of them were coming from cause i wouldnt mind "decoding" that account and figuring out who it was.
now that its in the past im not so worried about that person, but its nice to know new ways to protect myself for the future
thanks everyone
Ive wanted to do that....maybe yall will har about me on the news....ill do it to...
