96 300 straight 6 help please
Hello all, I usualy post in the 61-66 forum but i need help with my daily driver.It is a 96 f-150 5 speed with the inline 300 6 cylinder.by the head there is a long tube that runs the length of the head. it has lines comeing off of it that go to the head.it sounds like i have a bad exhaust leak but it is comeing from one of those tubes..sounds like a tractor when i drive it.its been doing this for a week before i figured where it was comeing from.and now my check engine light is on from this i think. what is this tube called and is this something that can be bought at a parts store.thanks in advance for any help you guys can give me..Tom

that is the thermactor AIR system...aka smog pump. it runs to the head through that line and branches off into each port.
not to hard to replace but its kinda expensive. sorry i dont have the part number, i did at one time but i cant find it off hand.
