The more I cruise these sites the more I realize that Ford does truly have a problem with oil leaks. It doesn't matter what some may say, these are not isolated instances.
I had my rear main seal changed at 3200 miles, after it leaked from day one! I now have 5200 miles and I noticed an oil spot on the driveway. Looks like back to the dealer. Heck, they even gave 2 bottles of dye, for those just-in-case it may return.......
How many have had multiple rear main seals, oil leaks on their 06 6.0?
Is this a Ford issue or a International issue? It would seem that if Ford was having this many problems with oil leaks, they would get International in the loop.
I took my 06 6.0psd in last week w/ oil leak. Wet and a few droplets on bell housing of trans. 3300 mi on vehicle. They told me some sensor was leaking and that they fixed it. Checked 1 week later, same leak.It goes back in Tues.
Ya, mine went in for the same thing today. The truck only has 1300k on it, i am not happy at all. Being that it's an 06, I thought that Ford fixed all the problems from the past, i guess they didn't. The dealer told me that this is an ongonig problem. I just hope it gets fixed right the first time. I guess i will just have to wait and see.
I had a front seal leak at 400 mi, and again at 4000 mi. At 5000 mi. the glow plug harness leaked. Now at 6600 mi., looks like the rear seal is leaking and the check engine light just came on. Took it to the dealer today. Hope this is the end of the leaks. But I'm afraid it's probably not.
After reading alot of oil leak post myself I think if mine starts leaking it won't see the dealer till it leaves an oil puddle under truck. Seems like the drip is common but usally doesn't leave a spot when parked.

I think that is a good idea. While it sounds a little silly letting an expensive new truck have a drip on the bottom of the pan, a lot of guys seem to have even more problems AFTER the dealer visit. We were hesitant to let the dealer wrench on our new trucks, so we left them alone. (no reflashes, thanks anyway!) One dried up, the other has a perpetual wet line but no marks on the shop floor.
We'll see what it looks like at 99,999 miles and go from there.
Buddy of mine just ordered a new 06. His 05 had a laundry list of oil leaks and a list of exuses just as long...
He used the Wisconsin Lemon Law to his advantage. My advice, document everything (written, copies, pictures, and vebal exchanges with names, dates and times). And hope your state has a law to protect you. He did this without a lawyer and it was very straight forward when you have the evidence...
I'm the newest member of the "rear seal leak" gang! I was going to change my fuel filter this evening and I found oil leaking from the rubber gasket on the front of the bellhousing. I'm going to call the service department tomorrow to set up an appointment so I'll keep everyone posted on my experience.
BTW, how long does it take a tech to replace the rear main seal???
The service rep said 7-10 days to do the RMS due to service back up on these trucks..they have to remove the cab to get at engine; I got the dye put in but I am hesitant to get this done. 04 250CC lariet fx4
Changed my oil @1,400 miles the first time. Noticed oil dripping off the bell housing, just below the rubber plug. Also drips noticed on garage floor. needles to say I am not happy. have not drivin much since to check again for leak.
I have 18,000 mil on my 05 and i have a oil leak at the bedplate. The tech that is fixing it told me that he sees it in 05 and 06's not so much in 03 and 04. he had to pull the motor to fix it. it has been two weeks.
