well i was driving my truck home f250 tonight and the check engine light came on 7 dif times it felt as though the truck wasn't firing on all cylinders it fell hard on its face. the egts were around 800 when it first happened and then they dropped to 300 and the pyro probe itself is still in the exhaust manifold i checked that. also when the cel was set it sounded as though the turbo wasn't whistlen like it should be. and i don't have a scanner i cann't get ahold of one till monday. any help would be great appreciated
Sounds like a brand new short in the injector wiring harness. Could also be the IDM getting ready to take a dump, or possibly the nut is getting loose on the IPR
its raining out i dunno it that matters but when it would go away i could flop the snot out of it and it wouldn't come on and then when i take it easy it comes on
Could be the rain...if a waterproof connector somewhere isn't so waterproof any more. I guess you'll have to wait for it to dry out to see if that makes a difference.
Most of the national parts chains have scanners they'll let you borrow; I know AutoZone does. They might charge a deposit while you take it out the door, but it's refundable.
well i cann't get the CEL ffor the life of me today i tried everything i looked at the driver side vc connections and they didn't look deformed. i even got a superchips tuner from a budy to check the codes and there wasn't any i am gonna try a snap on scanner tomarrow. i think the water messed something up
If the codes are there the Snap-on should recover them.
Most often you will not see a deformed connector....you need to pull the connectors and inspect the pins. It may also be neccessary to pull the valve covers and inspect the harness underneath.
i checked for codes today with a snap on scanner and there was nothin at all even did it with the truck running. wens i am gonna try to recreate the problem by running a hose off the roof towards the engine with the truck running to see if its the IDM and i am gonna get an IDM from a teacher who works strictly on ford trucks to see if its the IDM. i hope it isn't but he is thinkin the IDM got water inside of it which caused all 4 cylinders to stop workin so we shall see
yea the truck runs like it always has , no codes no CEL nothin, the CEL never stayed on it came on but would go off and when i got home it stayed off. it just did it in the rain for the first time saturday.
I've read about people getting water inside the IDM and messing them up, but that's generally on the 99+ truck since the IDM is mounted right behind the inner fender liner.
