Those may be reverse rotation motors... Check the timing order casting on intake, if available...
Were there two on the same boat? I am not familiar with marine stuff...

There's a nice write-up on this in the current Auto Restorer. I have to work this weekend but if I have some time I could scan it for you if you're interested.

I'm interested. Ones going to be reverse rotation. Both from same boat. I'm working out what needs to be replaced to make it truck/car ready. I have a (800) fax number I can get you if thats easier. Don't know the # off the top of my head.

Thanks,

Post engine test stand

I have built a prototype Maintenance/test stand. I do not have it patented,so I would have to charge a nominal fee plus a signed and noterized statement saying that you would not copy it and sell for profit. I am looking for a capital investor to finance the patent and production of this unit. I could send you the plans or build you one. If any one can help me I would sure make it worth there while. Jerry, I wish I knew how to go about that stuff myself! I have a few ideas kicking around, also!
I think most of these units must be custom made, but I guess a search on the web might uncover something...

If you mean getting a patent. Start with a internet patent search.
http://www.delphion.com (Old IBM patent sight)
Something like 6 million patents are logged into the system and can be searched via the service.
For starters -
Write a letter of Discovery and have it signed by a witness or two. Preferably someone that has knowledge of the subject matter.Letter of discovery states what the original idea is.

You can sell the product without a patent and still have legal protection...but why bother your infringers will be do it yourselfers - very hard to find them out since a engine stand in general is not a new idea.
My $.02 sell it as a bolt up kit 20% above cost on ebay(assembly required)...once you get a following move manufacturing offshore, some place tropical where clothing is optional.

Good luck,

Ray

Ray, thanks for the advice. I tried Invention submission corp, and they only have a 2% success rate, which is not good enough for the money they want. My idea is more than a run of the mill stand,It incorperates a safe and balanced rollover featureand a place for engine controls and instrumentation. jk34
