LAST EDITED ON 28-Jun-01 AT 11:21 PM (EST)[p]Hey guys, still working on the 68 1/2 ton. Almost finished. I have found the correct throttle linkage, fabricated an alternator bracket. Now I'm having trouble connecting the kick down lever on the C6 to the linkage on the 600 Holley I'm using. Any suggestions? It doesn't seem to be long enough to reach the larger hole in the throttle linkage plate and that seems to be the only place to connect it to. I thought that maybe some of you may have had this same problem. Thanks for any and all information available.

try a lokar kickdown cable...eliminates all the rods and stuff. i've got one, but i don't have my damn motor together yet or i'd tell ya how good it works. good luck,
mike
Thanks for the advice. However I have to use the lever for now due to the cash flow. I would eventually like to go to a Lokar cable but just have to use the factory stuff for now. Any other advice?

Unfortunately you can't just hook the kick down to the throttle lever on the carb. It has to have a dedicated "FORD" kickdown lickage on it. It swings independent of the throttle untill it is open part way.

If you have another kickdown pole laying around, you can elongate one of them by cutting it and welding in a piece off the other one. The lever should reach all the way to the kickdown linkage when the throttle is closed. A good starting place to adjust the kickdown is to have the linkage move back at the same point that the secondaries are set to open. The kickdown linkage is activated when the throttle linkage moves past a certain point, which is adjustable via a screw with a spring on it. The screw should be visible on the front of the linkage, near the idle speed adjuster.
