I figured here was the spot to post this....I know how this topic area is with Part Numbers and Drivetrain...I picked it up out of a local yard....Came out of a 66 Fairlane GT......I was planning on putting the better center section in my 390 F150.......
I thought it was something special but appears to be Average....Cost me $17 plus a $12 core..Oh and a broken nail....Nice ...The Fairlane had adjustable coils with shocks....Almost wanted to buy the whole thing..While I was under there 3 people stopped and wanted it..They were pippsed...
The inside of the carrier has C4AW-4025A 24
DIF 33 is also on it......
So far all I can find is......I think.....Its the same casting as the Nodular case 9" c4aw...Its an early year.Without the extra rib nor "N" lettering ..The snout or shield....Might be called snugger......Biggest one I was able to find and might be large bearing 31 spline....Doubt it though...Find out more Sunday....Quick tooth count at night looks like 39/13...Which if stock should be a 65 352 Galaxie....Im guessin.....But it does have a strange flange/yoke....I know nothing about rear ends.....Pulled my first one today...
That flange type yoke is from later Fords, 80's up. Looks like my Aerostar, Ranger yoke, but lots of them look similar, Mustang etc. I guess they will interchange with the older yoke on the splines of the pinion shaft.
DIF=Dearborn Iron Foundry, I believe. Count the splines in the side gears to see if 28 or 31 spline axles.
Your tooth count comment has me confused. The gear tooth count just gives you differential ratio, not anything about application. So 39/13 would be 3.00:1 ratio.
