looking to buy
Time to upgrade on my work truck. Looking into buying a 05 ,250 diesel.
Pull a 8 x 16 foot trailer daily. The truck i am looking at is a used,20000
miles, 05 250. First diesel what should i be looking for before buying. Why
would someone trade a truck so low mikes? Any help for a buyer new to
diesels?

Could be a lot of reasons a diesel with only 20,000 miles was traded, you definitely should be interested in "why." My strongest suggestion is get the VIN and have an Oasis report run on it, that would tell you all the maintenance concerns. Drive it in town, on the highway and any scenario you can think of to test it out. It would be nice if they would let you keep the truck for an afternoon to really put it through it's paces.
Other than that, look for leaks or evidence of leaks in the past. At 20,000 miles not a whole lot of preventive maintenance would of been done. They should of replaced the fuel filters and done about 5 oil changes. Good luck and keep us posted.

This is a local dealer, i have purchased here before, will allow me to have the truck 5 days before purchase to evaluate the truck. these guys are pretty good in service department, but i will have it to pull trailer and check out
