Before I loose it and drive off a cliff!!!! ....Someone must have an answer to help me...I own a 1997 F-150, for some reason the door is ajar light, dome light and dinger will not STOP when I'm driving. I'm able to pull the fuse, which shut's all this off but that fuse also controlls my wipers. So when it rain's or snow's, I look like a tool with my interier and bed light on, not to mention it ding's like the door's open...What the @%$&!!!!!Please help!!!!
With the door open, push down and hold the plunger switch on the door jamb. Hold for a minute to see if the interior lights go out, if they don't fix/replace the switch.
I had the same problem with my 02 Supercrew last summer. Dealer replaced a left front door switch and then tried to charge me for it, until I pointed out the truck was still on warrenty.
Good to hear Wd-40 did the trick I replaced mine a few months ago. But Ford sent the wrong switch. they sent me a switch for the XLT trucks and mine is a Lariat.
I have a similar problem. Door ajar sensor wasn't working right and the dome lights would stay on until battery ran down. After much headaches with dealer I was told to spray some canned air down inside the door. Apparently the contacts (?) get dusty. Well that did work (have to repeat 2x/year) to stop the battery drain, but now the door dinger bell will not stop. Should I just try spraying WD40 instead of air?

Yes, load it up with WD40 and open and close the door a good amount of times. Should fix the problem.
Thanks!!!!!
OK will try the WD 40. related to this is the chime will not stop chiming - even when everything is off and the keys are out of ignition? Suggestions?

My truck is dose the same thing, door open keys not in ignition and it chimes. I thasn't done for about 2 weeks now, but it does it whenever.
On the door, where the lock clasp is, there's a black switch inside, just spray the crap out of that, on either side then just work the black lever untill it moves freely. That's all I did and it got rid of the chime and the dome lights.
Is it the key minder dinging? Could be the ignition thinks the keys are still in it. Try some canned air in the ignition switch or a quick shot of graphite lube. It is powdered so it won't short out any contacts. Or try tapping on the ignition switch a little to see if you can shake loose the contacts.
