Biggest Tire

Greetings Ford Owners, I am new to this forum and am looking for some information.
Does any one know the largest tire that can be mounted on a Ford F 250 4x4 without using any lifts? I was told (true or not I dont know) that a 285 would mount without scrubbing or bumping. If anyone has any knowledge I would appreciate a heads up. Thanks

Yes, if you are talking about a SuperDuty F250 4x4, a LT285/75R16 will fit fine...without any rubbing. This is about 33" (+/-).

When I purchased my NEW/Used 2003 F250 4x4 last November...it was outfitted with that size tire. I have since installed the stock size LT265/75R16 for better fuel efficiency.

As for the largest tire??? I'm sure someone else will chime in.

I run 285's with no problem on a 2001 superduty. A guy at work has a 2005 superduty and is running 305's and says hes had no problems. But he wouldnt tell me anyway, he only went 305 because I had 285, so I would say 285 and be safe.

I run 305's on 16x10 wheels and didnt rub, just on occassion would scuff the left side fenderliner, just enough to see, couldn't hear it, and it was only at full lock wich happens when backing out of a parking space for me,

I just had installed today 295/75/16's on my '05 250SD FX4 CC. Nitto Terra Grapplers. No Lifts no problem (although my truck came w/the snow prep package which I believe has a different front spring pack).

I would caution you about tire width on the realtively narrow stock rims (7"). It seems most manufacturers quote 265 as the widest for a 7" rim but you'll find many running wider (such as my self). 305/70's are wider but not quite as tall.

If you haven't already search for "metric tire conversion" in yahoo/google etc. and you'll find some excellent tools for helping you deceide which size to go with.

Before the 2" lift went in, I was running 305's on my 2001 F250SD with no problems at all. Now that it's lifted a bit, I am selling them and putting 35's on.

The 305's are 33" tires.

What year is your truck? The suspension on 05's and 06's are different, you can fit bigger tires.

I have 325/65/18's on my 06 F-350 stock, no rubbing.

I have been wanting to put 285s on my pickup and I talked to a tire dealer yesterday and he told me I would need a wider wheel. He said the widest wheel Ford makes is a 7", so I tried measuring mine and it looks like it is a 7.5". It is a 99 Lariat with factory aluminum wheels. Does anyone know if there is any truth to what the dealer is telling me or is he just confused?

Well, I'm not saying I SHOULD have, but for about a month I ran 285's on my stock rims. Then I got a tire/rim package with my 315's and went up in rim size.

Just curious, Where do they rub? I ran my 37s for about 3wks with no lift. They only rubbed at full lock on the leafs. With the leveling kit theres ample clearence between inner fenders, bumper, etc.
