101 Uses for Wooden Pallets
Well, maybe not 101, but almost half a dozen. These pallets come in many sizes and are available most anywhere for free. I'm currently using them in my garage for movable storage.
1. Bolt a caster on each of the four corners and store your truck cab on it. Then you can move it around your garage or work on it more easily.
2. A smaller pallet is great for storing your tires off of the concrete floor. (We all know that concrete "sucks" the "life" out of rubber if left to sit for long periods of time, right?)
3. Take a larger pallet with the four casters bolted on and put a jack stand at each corner. Then level them out, place your truck frame on it and strap it down tight. Now you can move your frame around or in and out of the garage with relative ease. (It works, I'm using this method right now to sand blast my frame.)
4. Pallets work great for keeping extra bags of concrete and playsand off the moisture ridden concrete floor.
5. The smaller pallets with casters work great for holding a transmission and bellhousing.
6. The larger pallets with casters work great for storing the front end truck sheet metal(aka "doghouse").
Anybody else have any ideas to add to this list?

101 Uses for Wooden Pallets
I currently have a 1971 429 and C6 transmission sitting on a pallet in my pole barn at this very moment. The caster thing is a good idea. Although in my case it wouldn't help because my pole barn just has a class 5 floor right now.
Oh yeah, they work good on bonfires too.

There is a thread here on [link:www.ford-trucks.com/dcforum/DCForumID75/270.html|Chassis Cradles] that could be done with one of those pallets with casters under it. Use a 4x4 post with a bolt hole thru it to hold one end of the frame. Support the post with an X brace to the corners of your pallet that has casters. Use an engine stand at the other end of the frame. Once you are done with the frame, remove the post and brace. Your caster pallet is now free for other duty.

101 Uses for Wooden Pallets
Ya know, I get stuff on pallets delivered to the farm all the time and I usually burn 'em because I get tired of tripping over them. I never thought of putting casters under a few and use them in the shop. Great tip!!! Thanks!

stack some together in a stack and you have a wonderful steel rack. You can seperate your pipe from your angle and sort it to size and if you run out of space just add another pallet or two.

>they make good fireplace wood,no sap, just clean the nails
>out after.
Now that is a stellar idea!
But how is the aroma? Is there any kind of funky smell from burning pallets versus oak firewood.

I got you all beat. This guy down the road from me got so many from work that he built a garage out of them. Its about 12' x 25'. he stacked them end to end up and down and around for the walls, then bolted three together to make roof panels with bracing in the middle. He put siding on it and put a flat tar roof on it. I think he insulated it with spray foam. Don't know how strong it is but its been there for about five years now and he parks his car in it. hell 60 some 4' pallets you could have a cheap shed.

They do make pretty multi-color flames. Don`t know how safe they are to burn indoors( because of chemicals), but I`ll tell you what, if you have 3 pallets burning you`ve got yourself a hot fire!! Can`t even stand around it!!

You can also knock out the fourth plank on one side and the third plank on the oposite side of one pallet. On the other pallet strip the planks on both sides half way up to make the feet. Slide the half pallet into the one with 2 planks missing and you make a bench seat out of them. Do it all the time when I end up out in "29 Stumps". I'll send a pic if you want. LOL I know it is kind of confusing to build it without seeing it.
