I recently sold my last pickup (46 Hudson) and just purchased my first Ford pickup, a 55 F-100, it needs a bunch of work. The frame, box, tailgate and rear fenders are in nice shape but the cab and front fenders will need some work.
I am looking for sources/recommendations for places to purchase replacement sheetmetal (floors, cab corners, lower cowl) as well as glass.
I bought it sans drivetrain and am planning on going for an older (67-73) cadillac 472 or 500, but may make it Ford powered if I come across something that I can use.
Welcome-
Check out the "Read First" threads at the top of the forum. In the Group Reference Threads In Progress you will find a listing of several parts vendors for our trucks. In the other "Read First" threads you will find ideas for suspension upgrades and many othe tips.
Welcome! Sounds like you have yourself a good project. Post some pics when you get a chance. We all (at least me) love to look at other's trucks! Great way to get new ideas.

Welcome aboard! I'm not much further along in my project than you. This is great place to find information and get advice from really knowledgeable people. The archives are loaded with info. There are at least five great sources for patch panels from reputable vendors. Drop me a private msg and I'd be happy to forward you a list.
I actually get more catalogs than my wife does now.
Welcome to the board!!!
Looks like a great project!! I went with the 500ci Caddy in my 49 and so far I love it. The huge engine isn't really that big and only weighs about 60 lbs more than a small block Ford or chevy.
Welcome aboard. You've already met some of the regulars and they've given you some good starting points. Along with their suggestions, there is a list of parts vendors here http://www.clubfte.com/users/earl/Pa...dor_Links.html. For sheet metal, you might try a place like Mid-Fifty or Dennis Carpenter to start with although shopping around can sometimes save you a bit.
We've always got room for another slant cab in here. Looks like a real nice project. Should only take about two bags of money to fix her up. Some of the guys around here had to start with three baggers. Welcome to the forum.
Don't tell my wife about the bags of money....I have a shoebox under the porch
I just secured a 429 (20K on rebuild) and a c-6 (5K on rebuild) for the drivetrain. So I guess it'll be ford powered afterall
