Charging Problem

Im driving to Houston, Tx and has been a total nightmare. Yesterday my rear right blowed in Salem, IL. bought a new tire and check in the hotel for a fresh start today. Well that did not go good. While driving down Hwy 40 today my battery light come on and all the lights dims. then it goes on for about another 2 miles and the car dies. I change the battery out of my camaro that I was pulling and it goes dead at the next exit. Now I had to drive a little and when it die my wife would jump me off. this happen about 8 times before getting to the hotel. I think the alternator is bad, what yall think?

You do not mention what year your truck is, but I had a problem kind of like yours. My 97 would work great, then die. Jump start and works fine for a while then dies again. Had the charging system and battery checked free at Autozone. All checked good! Saw crosion on the cables and poured water and soda on it to eat the acid. Worked good for awhile again (but not long). I wound up replacing both battery cables and no problem since. I went to NAPA for the cables. They are the same as at the stealership but about 1/3 the price. Hope this helps!

Well Since I was traveling and had to get the truck towed $200.00. The parts and labor to change the alternator was $512.00. This hurts for a guy who enjoy and dont like paying people for mechnical labor, but my hands was tire while traveling with thye family.
Now she work flawless from N. Little Rock, Ar to Texas.
My truck is a 1999 Lincoln Navigator.....
