I have a 96 f-150 and i have just finshed puttin a new front end under the truck from a 1978 f-150 for the SAS. I bought new 1978 calipers and new extended 1996 brake lines. Ive bled the brakes and there is resistance in the pedal. However, when i turn the truck on, the pedal goes straight to the floor and i have no brakin power. The reservoir is full and there is not leaks in the new lines. Does anybody know whats wrong with my brakes and how to fix em. Ive bled them and it seems to work till the truck is turned on. The ABS light is on too. I know this question might not be best in this forum but i know yall know alot about both of these trucks. Any suggestions or help would be very helpful.
one word of advice... dont push so hard on the pedal that you shoot the bench bleeding plugs out and the fluid all over your buddy ... i know this from experience.
I would think it is a master cylinder problem too. I am not really an F150 guy, though, so for those of you that are, is there a big difference in caliper volume from the 78 to the 96? Maybe it just doesn't have enough to supply the older calipers?
im pumping the pedal with the engine off, i did every brake in the specified order and still nothin. I was told i may need to get it power bled at a shop
