Question windshield wiper problem

I have a 1996 F250 Diesel and the wipers don't work but the washer button does...Does anyone know what could be wrong with it and if so where do I start?

The MultiFunction switch is a very common problem on your truck.

I'll have to get a new one. My wipers only work on high.

Thanks.

if they only work on high i'd almost guarantee you that your problem isn't the switch but the intermittent module that plugs in BEHIND the switch. on vehicles equipped with the intermittent wiper option, there's a module that plugs inline to the wiper switch. crawl under the dash and follow the harness backward from the switch. you'll find it. unplug it at either end and then open up the lil black box. check all the components on the circuit board for loose or broken solder joints. the most common seems to be the giant heatsink (that's what it was on mine). re-solder any loose components and you should be all set.

My wipers in my 89 started screwing up too. Only they go very very slowly, I just assumed it was the wiper motor, I will have to check the intermittent module.

I just said teh MultiFunction switch is a very common problem, not what your problem is. If the wipers only work on certain speeds, or if they start and stop every time you bump the switch or turn the blinker on and off then its a bad MF switch.

If they run slowly its a bad motor.
