another VIBRATION prob
I've read all the stuff I could find about vibration issues, including Dannunz's recent problem. Mine is a little different I think, so I thought I'd post a separate thread.
I've got a completely stock F250 with 147k and relatively new tires (8k). The problem started about 2000 miles ago and seems to be getting worse. Starting at about 50mph and continuing as high as I might drive, I get an intermittent vibration that makes me feel like my steering wheel is a very mild orbital sander. Real tight frequency on the pulsations. It's not chattering my teeth (yet), but it is getting worse. I can feel it through my elbow when I lean on the door rest, and to a much lesser extent through my **** on the seat.
I've had chopped tires before and I know what that feels like; this feels different. Sometimes it will go away for a mile or so, and then return for a mile or so. Very noticeable and it seems to be getting worse.
Where should I start?
Thanks,
Joe
Good luck.
p.s. I talked to this old tire guru guy and he told me that 97.3564% of the time the 50 to 70mph range vibration indicates tires because at those speeds the tire harmonics come into play. He got into a lot of detail concerning it, but his pipe smoke was getting to me and his words seem to run together. It seemed like my astrophysics professor reincarnated.
