I finally installed a momentary switch to energize the GPR. I also think I'll wire in a small indicator light on the glow plug side of the relay for positive feedback that the relay is working and also to make sure it's not energizing when it's not supposed to. I think this would be a good idea for any truck.

I put a switch on my old 6.9 and just wired to the relay and left the other wires intact. When I hit the switch, the stock GP dash light would come on, until I released the switch.
ok, gotcha. Now that I know, that sounds like a great idea. from what I do know, the glow plugs are a bit kantankerous.
I would consider the GPR the most cantankerous since it's carring all the current
for the GP's. Gotta make sure those battery/GP terminal contacts are clean and sealed from the elements.
