Howdy fella's. I'm back in the States and things are going okay, for the most part.
Here's my little peeves for the day.
First, I get to take my big, stupid, angry truck out to play, just to make sure all is good. Of course the V10 was running flawless and my BSEG was in full effect.........until. I get on the highway and my rear end is howling louder than the TSL radials that it's turning. Now I know that after a gear change, there is a "little" noise for a few miles to break them in and I only drove the truck about 20 miles before I left to go back over and it was all in town, so I didn't hear the noise. But.........this is way outta the norm for noise. They are screaming. Sooooooo, back to the shop today to have it ripped apart, as I'm sure that things are not gonna be pretty.
Second, they put they check valve in backwards on my ARB's and the tank wouldn't fill. It just blew air out the valve. No big deal right...........weeeeeeeell, the problem is that if you engage the locker (as the wife did to make sure it worked when she picked it up) it would engage the locker, but it WOULD NOT release it when disengaged. So, the whole time I've been gone, the front end has been locked. Thank god she only drove it about 20 miles while I was gone. Otherwise I'd be looking for new front end parts.
But other than that, the wife is good, the dog is a moron, and I had a beer last night, so I'm pretty much happier than a pig in chit.
I'm dropping it off while I go to Texas, so they'll have it for about a week before I get back. There's only one reason why a set of gears goes that quick, setup.
I'm always willing to let someone make good on a mistake, when they offer to take care of you. They are getting it in and looking at it.
The guy that did them and the ARB's no longer works there..............hmmm, wonder why, so the owner of the shop is taking care of it.
Owner of the shop seems like a straight shooter, so I'll give him the opportunity to make it right. No real skin off my back. I like dealing with smaller, owner run shops for reasons like that.
We'll see how it goes. Other than that, it was kinda interesting to play with a SD with full lockers. Went out in a little area that flexes things a little bit, as much as a SD can flex. Got the wheels up in the air and twisted it over some stuff and those ARB's are SWEEEEEEEEET! 4L and lockers on a SD is fairly impressive to say the least.
Rich, sorry we couldn't meet before you left Eggers but I am totally glad to see that you are back home safe and sound. Sorry to hear about your truck and I hope that mine is okay after missing me for the past 6 months. Oh wait did I get a new truck before the Navy sent me here? I think I got to drive it for a few weeks before leaving it. Again good job on what you did over here!!
