turn signal switch trouble

turn signal switch trouble
in my 79 f350 the turn signals quit a few weeks ago. after searching all I have found out is that when the switch lever is pulled toward the driver with medium to light pressure it will work. am I looking at a broken switch , cam or something?

Afraid you may be looking to at least pull your steering wheel to locate the problem. Not being an expert, I would assume that your problem would indicate a broken assembly somewhere in the switch. The cam only cancels the switch.

Happened to me on a couple vehicles. Just pulled the switch from a similar year junkyard truck and replaced. You should try to find a shrouded column, because the shrouded columns have an easy way to pull out the connector straight through with the wheel removed. The other type, I have had to remove all the pins from the connector at the bottom, and re-attach after installation.
Always check for simple wiring problems, like grounding, loose wire, etc, like was mentioned.
