also like to note that the f-450's and f-550's have a dana 60 front axle and a dana 135 rear axle. for those of you who havent seen one, its massive. no thats not the right word, its just PLAIN HUGE!! ill have to get a picture of our 550's axle when the bed is up.

i believe you use 75w-90 in the front, and 75w-145 in the rear, and add 8oz of ltd. slip frictionifier, because you have limited slip.

Right again strokin! Exact setup that I have in my 02. I just changed the rear end fluid with some Valvoline cause I couldn't find (or order) the Redline that I wanted to use. Thought I'd give it a try and even bought a 4oz bottle of Ford's XL-3 snake oil. Put the syn in without modifier as recommended here at FTE. Drove around a while and tried some tight fig 8's.... no skippin'. So I'll forgo the modifier for now.

To change the fluid out pull the plug in the bottom let it drain? Then fill from a plug in the top using some type of pump? How much do you put in the front and rear?

Joe

Gonna try and tackle the front tomorrow unless the snow gets too deep.....It's quite a bit rustier and will prolly take a whole lot longer to sandblast.

Guzzle you should take those excellent writeup's and submit them to FTE. They have an offer for some goodies or some cash for your effort.

Thanks for the suggestion Kwik, I might just do that some time. Recently I seem to have digressed from ModFeaver to a Maintenance Crusade. I don't know anyone that can take a two hour job and turn it into an all-day project as well as I can. Anyway, I'm kicking out this stuff pretty fast right now and not checking it very close. I have already found a number of "errors and omissions" that I need to clean up plus there's a bunch of stuff waiting in the wings from the mods I've done! I have found that there is an enormous amount of information and knowledge here at FTE, and it usually takes some effort to search and find it. What I am planning to do is make a feeble attempt (and I MEAN feeble) to put it together on a website as "Guzzle's Mods and Maintenance". It's kinda fun and a whole lot safer than cookin' crack in the basement.

Kwik! Just noticed that you changed your avatar... I like this one better, can see more of the pretty lady in the back and less of you..

Have you reached the 100k mark? Is that why all the maintenance work? Mine is at 97k and I'm dreading the time and cost on the coolant and the rear ends.
