PayPal account

I'm thinking about closing my PayPal account to stop all the bogus Emails I keep getting about "unauthorized use of your account" asking me to click on. I usually forward them to spoof at PayPal and delete them. Does this happen a lot?

I get no emails like this and I've been with paypal for over 4 years maybe 5. I've heard of these but never see them.

I've been with PayPal since they started. I never got a spam 'til eBay took over. Sounds like eBay has someone loose with member ID's.

I got 2 PayPal spams yesterday, one the day before. I constantly get them from eBay, credit card companies and banks I have no affiliation with.

> Sounds like eBay has someone loose with member ID's.

People go through auctions and use "ask the seller a question" to harvest e-mail addresses. Plus, there are other ways.

Basically, I automatically delete anything from PayPal because I know it is bogus. If it is worth mentioning it will be on your sign-on page at PayPal (https) and never use a link to get there.

Closing your account won't help. I get emails like that all the time on accounts that I don't even have linked to either a paypal or ebay account. You'll continue to get these emails no matter if you have an open account or not. The stupid scammers send these bogus phishing emails to any address they get their hands on hoping someone will bite, regardless of if it has an actual paypal account or not.

When I was with AOL i got that stuff constantly from the paypal spoof crooks. Then i dumped AOL and went with NetZero. No problems since. I suppose it is only a matter of time before the crooks catch up with my new ISP.

For one thing, if you ask a question regarding an item on ebay, check the box that says "don't show my address."

Also, if you are a seller, have firm guidelines and delete sellers who do not abide by them. There are a lot of bad apples out there who play the system and have multiple ebay accounts. I know from experience.

I've been getting Pay-Pal E_Mails for the past 18 months. The problem is, I don't have a Pay-Pal account. It's just a bunch of Hackers Pfishing for anyone Ignorant enough to click on their link. So if you do close your account you will still get the Spam

I've been getting those also, so I sent them to spoof@paypal.com and they said they
were bogus. Real paypal emails will include your first and last name instead of saying paypal member. I dont think closing your account will help but I removed my payment
info from their site anyways. good luck

Hello Dono - like rebocardo said, they're bogus. Somebody wanting payback to paypal is using their name to make you hate them. Had a few of them myself. Found out, not only from Paypal, but from our Microsystems manager that the emails were definitely not from Paypal.

PayPal Account

Yeah, I used PayPal one time and about a month later I started getting those emails. I closed my account and still got a few regarding "added this email address" or "un-authorized use". It was kinda' scary at first, but I just delete'm now. I haven't used e-bay or PP again.
