The only two tone colour trucks I've seen have the roof & the area inside the racetrack chrome done in the 2 nd colour.
or
with just the side panels and NOT the roof done in the 2nd colour.
Dark blue and baby blue is a dated look in my opinion. I think you should consider sticking with all dark blue like it is now. Either that, or maybe a deeper color than baby blue.
There were 3 types of tu-tone. Tu-tone=body one color roof separate color. Delux tu-tone=just a separate color within the race track trim. Tu-tone combination=roof and inside the race track trim one color and the rest another color. I hope that makes sense. Thats from the 77 brochure which is good for the 77-79's. I dont know all the color combinations. 73-76's had a different tu-tone. I dont have my brochure with me so its hard for me to describe. One option was for the top half of the truck (above the concave body line) to be a different color from the bottom portion.
Click the "My F-150" link below, there is another brochure down at the bottom thats kinda like GREGG C'S, but it has one more.......you want to make sure whatever colors you choose, contrast each other, or it will look tacky....i like the color it is now, if you want two colors get it painted so it shifts from one to the other in the light....put a dark blue basecoat on, then several coats of clear, then a fine spray of light blue, not enough to coat it just a light mist, then clearcoat a couple more times....now im not positive thats absolutely the perfect way to do a whole vehicle like that, but ive done it on smaller projects and it turned out great....only i used cherry red on black...you might ask around about it.....
I used to own a 79 F-150 Ranger that had a red body and a silver roof. I only ever saw 1 other like it. Many people commented on how nice it looked, but I wasn't sold. I often contemplated painting the roof to match, but then it was stolen, and I never saw it again. Damn, I miss that truck!
