Muffler ideas

i have a 97' Ranger 4.0L. I am trying to decide if i can justify buying a performance muffler. Do you guys have any suggestions of ones you've used that worked and gave you more power? I really want more low end power but its needs more high end too.
I have used a Flowmaster 40 series before on my 2.5L and wasn't very impressed, but then again it was only a 4 cylinder. It also has a K@N filter so maybe the two would work together well.

With intakes and exhausts your not going to gain much power.

yeah i know, but I've noticed if anything the flowmaster did help when pulling the trailer. And that alone makes it worth it to me.

Flowmaster makes one of the nicest sounding mufflers on the planet IMO. Changing the muffler is more for a nice sound than power. If you put on bigger exhaust front to back and added a high flow cat, you will notice more of a difference but still nothing crazy. You might want to take a look at the magnaflow's as well. Nice mufflers and I like the sound on them as well.

I have the Flow Master delta flow 40 series ones on my 87 TBird turbo coupe and did notice some performance improvement.

I have wondered if it would be worth it on my 99 2.5L?

It will give you a little more guts when your under load, but other than that nothing exciting.
