anyone out there ever install a new a/c system in a 79F150? i know it's a luxury, but i'm just curious what's involved and what it costs. do you have to find an original system, or are there aftermarket kits that would work?

There are various aftermarket kits available that will work great in your truck. Some are the factory look-type, others are underdash. Installation isn't that bad, just time consuming. You should be able to get a complete kit for about $1000.

Had mine converted to R134 for $500. Including compressor and hoses. Works better than ever.
