The whisling noise might come from the secondary throttle plates being open slightly. While the engine is running move the secondary throttle linkage back and forth. It wont move far but if you seat it closed and the noise goes away you probably need to adjust the secondary stop to eliminate the noise.

All the holleys I've had whistle when the secondary's are closing after a full throttle blast down the highway.

You might want to look over your C6 for the screetch noise. Check the oil, it should be to level, have a bright red color, and not smell burnt or be brownish in color. The reason I ask is because my C6 made the same noise shortly after I rebuilt it. The noise only lasted a few seconds while going 60, but it scared the Hersheys out of me. I discovered that no tranny fluid was going through the radiator, so I tore the tranny down again and found the culprit to be a check valve stuck closed in the stator support. I figure it must have happened when I phosphated the front pump parts for wear protection. The torque converter actually got hot enough to turn it blue. The one-way sprague clutch in the back of the C6 also overheated as the bronze thrust washer nearly welded itself to the inner race from no lubrication. I am guessing this is the noise that I heard. If I were you, I would check to see that oil is at least returning to the C6 by unhooking the cooler line at the rear connection of the C6. Place a pan under it and start the engine. You should get a good flow of ATF out of the tube.

Sorry in advance for the expected oil mess in your driveway.
