OK so when you remove the ford emblem on the tailgate and there are three holes. What did everyone use to fill the so you can paint over them. i was told weld the hole shut. then smooth the welds out then paint. but before i paint should i put some bondo on or anything

as long as the welds are smooth enough you won't need any bondo. The bondo should only be used to smooth out any imperfections you didn't get while grinding.

Try skinning the whole panel with bondo, and seeing what comes up when you sand it down looking for low spots. As long as your welds aren't too high and they didn't warp the surrounding metal, you won't need a thing just fo fix them for paint

You should end up sanding off almost 99% of the bondo when your done if the metal work was done properly.
