Hi everyone, I just found a 78 F-150 2wd "Donar truck" and want to swap the cab and front clip onto my 76 F-250 Highboy, Is this a bolt on deal or do I need to do some fabricating due to the frame widths, Thanks.
you will have to drill new mounting holes, and unless its a 4spd donor truck, you will have to cut out the transmission hump, and bolt on the center hump floor pan from your old cab. also if you want to keep your in the cab gas tank you'll have to do a little more fabricating.
to be a little more specific, it's the rear cab mounts that will need redrilled. its no big deal ive seen it done quite a few times. i personally would scrap the in cab gas tank, but from what ive heard its not very hard to fit it into the later model cab if you have to have it there.
Thanks for the info guys, Yea I am going to scrap the behind the seat tank, Is the rad support the same? I would measure but I wont be getting the donor truck for a week or so and just want to get as much info as I can before I start on it, The box is bad on both trucks, Rusted on the highboy and dented on the donor truck, Is the bed floor different? The floor is good on the donor truck but it needs box sides but if the floor is different I will look for another box for it, Thanks again for all the info
from the front cab mounts, its bolt on. including the rad. support. the bed floor is slighly different on the donor truck, you have to redrill all of the bolt holes, and try to hit the original holes in the frame, then you have to shim the newer bed so that the body lines match up, some people think its too much work, but when its all youve got, its all youve got!

My 74 f-350 has an auto on the column and a low hump with a bolt on cover.
Hey speed auto, that is the same project I am on, I did have to cut the floor pan out at the tranny, but I went to and Auto and took the linkage down to the floor, so my shifter is now reight bedise the Tcase shifter.
