78 bronco, c6 trans...just bought a new stock one and put i na B&M shift kit....it won't downshift on it's own....and when i start off again, it only d/shifts to 2nd when i hit the gas....the modulator is getting plent of vac....it is adjustable, but the trans was dyno'd before i bought it....the B&M directions didn't say anything about adjusting it, but might it fix the problem to adjust the modulator?????
Is your kickdown linkage hooked up? It is the lever on the drivers side of your tranny right by the gear selector lever. You can adjust the modulator all day long but if your kick down lever isn't moving your not going to get a downshift.
the kickdown linkage has nothing to do with it downshifting when you come to a stop.it is the valve body. drop the pan, take out the valve body and make sure you did everything correct, when you installed the shift kit. where did you get the trans from? is it possible it already had a shift kit in it? or an aftermarket valve body?
matt
i got it from advance...a remanufactured one....the info sheet talks about the dynoing and all....and the valve body had no mods....i bought a TCI valve body from PAW...it was only $125, so i said heck with it...just get one i know is right....i think a bolt may have stripped in the old one.....this'll take care of that problem easily.....
