Greetings everyone, new to the board but not new to Ford's. I am planning a mass air conversion and could use some advice. I have an '89 Bronco I am going to run in a local mud run class in street stock category where NO modifications are allowed except for headders. I know the tech guy wouldn't pickup on a mass air set up. I have these parts already: air tubes and MAF sensor airbox, injector harness from a '95 F-150 5.0, '89 Mustang GT PCM(A9L), I have the pins for the PCM, what I really need is detailed instructions on how to make this happen from these parts. I am not spending any $$ to buy a pre made harness. I'm sure the "do a mass air conversion search" will come up again, but I am looking for specifics(wiring diagram) cause I know I can fab this up myself. Any help is greatly appreciated.
I would use the computer pinout from an 89-93 5.0 mustang, since that is the computer you are using. All you would have to do is make your stock truck harness match the mustang computer (you'll have to add wires for the MAF, and injectors, O2 sensor, etc.). A good reference site is this: http://brembs.net/cars/maf_conversion/
I've done the swap too, so any other questions that come up, ask away, and I'll see if I might be able to answer them.
Something I forgot to mention was I could also run a left and right O2 sensor set up with the headders I have, is there any advantage to this over a single O2 ? Also I'm not sure what a computer pinout is, do you mean the wiring diagram?
Yeah, you get the pinout from the diagram, sorry if that confused you. Basically just make sure that the wire position matches the wire function for the mustang computer. The site I linked to earlier has a good mustang computer wiring diagram you can use. I used it when I swapped my truck to MAF.
It would be ideal to run two O2 sensors, so go ahead and do that if it's easy enough to do.
