Question tractor wiring

This is just a shot in the dark but I'm wondering if anyone has a wiring schematic for a David Brown 995 tractor. It's been jury rigged so many times that one wire changes color 6 times and only one of those changes has electrical tape on it... Pretty sure that one is the temperature sensor. Everything else just has me stumped.

What's the wire that is hooked to the air intake fuel return line? (Yes, that is exactly what it looks like even though I know and you know that no one attaches a fuel return line to an intake hose.)

Sorry, i can't help you with the wiring diagram. That fuel line is probably a cold start assist. I've never seen one that worked past the dealers lot though! The wire is supposed to operate it, either by a push button or tied into the signal wire going to the starter. If your looking to make it original you'll need a diagram. If you just want it to work i might be able to work through it with you??

I think BubblinFords is right. I have a Case 1194 (essentially a David Brown) and here's what it says about the "thermostart":

System consists of a fuel reservoir connected to a fuel return line, thermostart unit located in in intake manifold, and a switch which is an integral part of the starter switch. When the starter is turned to the HEAT position, electrical current energizes the thermostart unit in intake manifold. Current heats the coil which opens the fuel valve and changes fuel into vapor. Another coil ignites fuel vapor which burns inside intake manifold and warms air going into cylinders. This makes the engine easier to start in cold very weather.

And I can vouch for the fact that mine still works - I'd never get this thing started some mornings if it didn't!

There is one little cheesy wiring diagram here which I can try to get to you somehow if you really need it - there's not much to it though, the most interesting part shows a wire from the starter switch to the "therostart"...

thanks guys. I just found the yesterday tractors website last night and have sent an email to the head smart guy. I hope to hear from him soon. As for the cold weather starting thingy, it's an interesting theory. I'll clean it out and see what it does, if anything. It's amazing what new fangled technology people come up with... and here I thought the felt dipper for the ether was a brilliant idea...

Dad's got a 990 diesel, great tractor. You're right, the wiring is all goofed up, more so on his since it was on fire...never let the brother run the tractor.

Someone had welded a hitch to the weight bracket on the front...Dad got it stuck and hooked onto that hitch to pull it out. Put my StepMonsterMother on the 990 (Grandpa called it a puddlejumper....better jump the puddles or get stuck!) to steer...the hitch came off and hit her in the head! Too bad she was so much like an Angus cow it didn't hurt her. She was not cut out to be anyone's mother.
