Well, lets see.First, nice avatar there Mil1ion.Now on to the questions,,The move down here was EXPENSIVE!It cost me $3000 just in gas!Get this,I rented a U-Haul truck,a 1992 Ford Cargo truck. The check engine light was on when I got it.I went back inside and told the guy at the counter that the light was on and he told me not to worry about it that someone had left the gas cap off.I told him that on a 92 a gas cap would not set off a light. He got all ticked off and said, what are you some kind of mechanic,I said yup,A Ford certified mechanic to be exact. He said, well dont worry about it,the light has been on for awhile so just go ahead and drive it.So off I went.By the time I got to Texas I was figuring my gas milage was about 1.5 miles to the gallon! So when I went to return the truck I complained to the counter guy who said, just fill out this form, call this number, jump through this hoop, cross this t,and kiss your money goodby.Well,ok so Im exagerating a little, but they did want me to jump through a bunch of hoops, even though I had all of my gas reciepts with me right then and there.Oh well,Im ranting,,Anyway NO more U-Haul for me,next time I will go with some other rental company.Next subject, the job.Well that didnt turn out either.I usually turn 45 to 50 hours a week, but there was just not enough work coming in to keep me busy.I should have known that, seeing as it was a small town. So,I went to where I am at now.The only sad part is that it isnt a Ford dealer, but it is American, sort of. The think with the daughters went south fast after the oldest one got into a drunken car wreck killing her husband. Its a long story but,let just say I told her she was a bad girl and things went downhill from there.I am still looking for a house, but I tell you one thing,I am like a kid in a candy store down here!Everywhere I turn I see a nice truck or car.I think I am going to get whiplash just spinning my head around looking at all the clean old vehicles!Im am trying to talk a guy into selling me a 1954 Mercury that is in excellent shape.Well, anyway this thread is getting long so I will sign off for now, besides I am at work so I better start turnin some wrenches if I want a paycheck this week.
Good to hear from you, KT. Sounds like you went through a hell of a time (ain't moving fun?)
Sorry things didn't work out quite the way you'd hoped, but as usual you still still manage to find a bright spot in the gloom. I always looked forward to your posts, please start coming back to see us more often!
U-Haul trucks are usually the worst of the lot, save a dime, spend $100. About the only thing you can do is withhold payment on the credit card until they make adjustments or restitution. Sometimes you just have to cancel the card and let it ride on the credit report with an explanation. Just one of the reasons to have at least two credit cards.
Good luck with the daughter. Sometimes kids just have to make their own mistakes and suffer the consequences. Of course there is no excuse for being drunk and taking another person's life.
Keep turning those wrenches and have fun in the "candy store"...
Just caught this old thread... great to have you back, KT! Man it has been a long time. Missed having you around here the past, oh, year and a half or so.
