Had something wierd happen...

I was driving to lunch today and did my usual WOT 2-3, 3-4 manual shifts. Cuising then at 75 mph, stepped into the throttle and no boost. None. Looked into the mirror, lots of black smoke. Looked at the EGT and it was climbing (of course, lots of fuel and no air), so I backed out. Stepped back in and all was fine again. I guess I have the beginnings of a VGT problem.

Anyone else ever experience it?

You did not post year and mileage of truck. Could be the EGR valve also.

sounds more like VGT solenoid to me......

My truck is an 04 6 speed 2WD XL. I already disabled EGR and the throttle plate. It is unrelated to that.

Yes, my truck did the same thing and the dealer replaced the turbo.
