03 Explorer 4X4 Question
I am looking at buying one of these and drove one at the dealer. I wanted to test the 4X4 to see if it was functional and it engaged but while turning there was a clunking or ratcheting type of sound. Is this normal on dry pavement? I don't recall my 99 Expedition doing this but that had a posi rear. The dealer checked it and said that was normal and it wouldn't do it during 4X4 conditions like snow, ice, dirt roads. Just thought I would ask here and get the experts opinions!

My 2002 XLT with part-time 4x4 (has "4x4 Auto" switch) does not make that noise. I have 111,000 miles on it. If I turn on dry pavement with it locked into 4x4 high the front end hops but no clicking and clacking noises.
