What's through the roof?
I am running 800* on the interstate @ 65 mph pulling 12K fifthwheel
1000* to 1100* pulling hills.
I usually run about 600* on the interstate @75 empty. Towing that rises up to about 900*, I have hit 1200* pulling a hill. I have 100hp chip, downpipe and straight exhaust.
And where's your Pyro located? Pre turbo (where it should be) or post turbo?
It's not tough for me to get to 1200* towing up a hill. Usually it runs 400 - 600 on the flat with no load.
sorry i have 200hp inj,4"down pipe with 4"straight through exhaust, cold air intake, intercooler and turbo off of a 2003 f550, with new intake wheel and, housing, suncoast trans and conv, engine is brand new, and pyro is in manifold, i run the edge chip at 60hp and on flats i run 1100 at 65mph and up hill 50 at 1250-1300 then half throttle to keep egts under 1300 at about 40mph and only pulling 10000 lbs.
I tow about 7k, no intercooler. Heres what I do; if I can see the hill coming I get it up to about 70 before the hill. Then without adding more throttle let the hill slow it down to about 50 then I shift out of overdrive and get the RPMs up there and keep it at 50. If the EGTs climb up towards 1250 I shift it down to 2nd and keep up the speed. Keep those RPms up and you will keep the EGT down.
Plain and simple ditch the f550 turbo, its worse than our stocker. upgrade to a ballbearing or h2e. Also a chip tuned to your injectors would help alot too, edge is known for high egts. Who's injectors and cam?
I had the same issues with my edge evolution. I could touch 1300 deg pre turbo pulling a empty stock trailer when climbing hills. I was going to install an intercooler to help these temps but for half the price I got a DP tuning chip with a tow tune, all I have to say is I look forward to hills now. I can get to 1200 degrees, only if I try, towing a loaded trailer.
