Sounds like you had a good wekend.I Pulled my front end off, pulled my motor and tranny, so I can get the frame boxed in the front.I allso pulled my straight axle out and pulled it apart.Pressed out my old bushings and pressed in my new ones.Ready for reaming.Gutted my cab so i can have it sand blasted still need to pull my windsheild and back glass. Not a bad weekend in my book.
ART
I have been working on my bed and running boards over the past three weekends. I redid a couple of spots on the bed, added gussets to the gate notches and finished the running board mods.
This weekend, I primered everything and reassembled it. Then I took it for a drive!!! I'll be driving it to work tomorrow. Check out the link below...
Not much on my truck, but getting a friends 49 merc detailed for Indy's World of Wheels next weekend, and My son had birthday Party #3 today. Overall it was a good weekend.
Replaced the rear oil seal, Cut out and welded in a new 20 by 20 piece of sheet metal in the back of the cab(rust rust) Grill was dented beyond repair on my 50 so I ground off 5 of the grill pieces and ground of the ones on my f-2 and welded them in placeon the F-1 and then sandblasted the whole thing. Seal went good, Weld in on cab looks like crap, And grill job looks better than the old one.
But all in all I think I came out better than having someone else do it.
I managed to get the sheet of 3/16" plate cut out of my bed along with several other huge chunks of steel that the previous owner welded in. I started removing the original steel bed floor and I got what was left of the wood removed. Now I need to decide where to go from here. The two center crossmembers are shot and the rear rolled crossmember is completely junk. I might have to replace the front bed panel also.
I think I'll try my hand at fabricating my own crossmembers adn front panel. I will have to buy a few stake pockets though.
I might have got farther but I was working outside and the wind came up and teed me off and I got tired of eating 55 year old dust.
I cleaned off the ice and snow, fired up the flathead and drove the 48 five miles to church. Roads were icy but the bright sunshine of a January day was awesome! .................
....... sorry, couldn't resist. Hang in there guys, it's definitely worth the effort - even the wind-blown dirt in the eyes and the busted knuckles. They all heal over eventually.
Pulled out the brand new Griffin Hp radiator and sent it back for the second and final time. Leaked in the same spot as the first time I received it. Too bad it sure looked nice in there. Installed new sanderson headers and started fabricating the connection to the existing exhaust pipes. Will have to go elsewhere for a new High Efficiency radiator.
