I found that I need to replace the power window slider and assocated cables and mechanism attached to the motor. I have the motor out and the mechanism attached to motor loose. It looks like there are two bolts/nuts at the top to remove the slider and two rivets at the bottom to drill out. Then I guess I will have to take the slider attacted to the window loose, two more rivets?
the year is needed. my haynes(up 2 91) claims no rivit popping, just taking alot of stuff off. i think everything will come out but u have to really strip the door down.
This is a 1994 Van. I am guessing that the slider mechanism attached to the window and the associated slide mechanism with the cable come as a package? I don't think there is any way to snake those cable in place onto the vertical slider?
Well today I got the parts ($136) which included the slider mechanism and the motor. I had to remove 9 rivets to get the mechanism out and back in. The hardest part was drilling some of the rivets out. I had to cut a little slot to get one of bolts back in that hold the window to the slider. All in all it wasn't bad.
I think they made a mistake on the parts, I don't think the motor should have been included in the $136 price. I had to go to a second dealer to pick up the parts and the guy asked me what they had quoted at the first dealer. He said you got a deal....got lucky but I didn't need the motor.
That's what I thought. I priced a door lock solenoid for my '95 F350 and it some ridiculous amount. I don't remember the number right now, but I believe it was over $100.00. I expected it to be $25 or $30. My brother also need one for his '03 F150 and it was less than half as much.
That sounded like a good deal for the regulator and motor.
They have a much more compact replacement for your 95 now, with a removable actuator arm to make replacement easier. Its cheaper too. Just dont expect it to last as long as the original 95 actuator did.

There are no actuator arms in these van windows these are two steel cables, one to pull it up and one to lower it. There is a plastic spool that fits on the motor gear that rotates to make it move up or down. There is a slider device that mounts to the window.

I was replying to Gene W about the door lock actuators he was commenting on a few posts back, not the window regulator.
Extensive searching brought me to this very old thread for my SIL's 2000 E150.
Ed2Hess said...." I don't think there is any way to snake those cable in place onto the vertical slider"..... And he's right.
I'm trying to learn how to remove the entire regulator assy, because we've ordered a new one on-line. I removed all the rivets, and the two nuts at the top of the slider. Cutting the cables, I was able to get the motor out, but need to remove the entire regulator system. Is there any trick to it other than drilling out the rivets that hold the glass to the slider?
