I can't believe the dealer wants $300 to purchase a new arm rest. This for a /99 Ranger. Anyone repaired one or purchase one from other than a dealer for less. This one raises up & down over another compartment with a lid to store things in. The plastic under the rest is cracked and parts of it have fallen out. Tried the bone yards and nothing! The metal brkt. that mounts to the bottom section is fine as is the bottom section. Just the arm rest section is damaged due to my arm catching it as I got in the truck and slipped on the ice. Fortunately that was the only thing that got damaged. Any help would be great!
The armrest on my old '99 Ranger broke, not the center console but the pad/armrest itself cracked when a overweight friend leaned all his 275 pounds into it.
I paid $118 with another friends employee discount at the Ford dealer for a new armrest, and another Ford dealer (who wasnt backed up that day) installed it for free.
$300?!? Sheessshhhh! Talk about inflation! This only happend to me 3 years ago and the discount only took off $60-$75.
Thanks for the suggestions. I'll try Ebay and check out Jones Brother's. Might even try some of the Auto Pro Shops for a universal one! A guy at work suggested trying a metal fab. shop to get a piece of alum. to fit. Thanks again guys.
Want to sell the one you got--I'll give you 50% of cost. It's used you know! No kidding $300,boy what a rip. Even the $200 you would have paid is high for that part.
Just have to keep on looking. Thanks
