So what could this be as my 10,500 mile 2005 Ford Expedition had to be flat-bedded to the local dealer:
Check Engine light was flashing, than went solid when I started driving it within 1/2 mile after I left home (yes, I did come back home)
Truck starts fine, runs rough (rough idle which stays around 500rpm) and will not go past 3000RPM when you give it full throttle (when it hits 3000 hit goes down to 2500 than back to 3000)
Gas smell in engine compartment, interior cabin and MAJOR gas smell coming from the tailpipe.
Drove to my Ford Dealer on Sat AM and they told me not to drive it but get it flat-bedded to them right away. Do they know something? Is this a fire hazard waiting to happen?
NOTE: Every now and than prior to the above incident I hard a hard time starting this vehicle. I would crank and crank and than finally start.
I'm new to this forum so any insight would be appreciated.
Just got a call from Ford as they ran a fuel pressure test. Fuel Injector #5 was stuck in the open position. They advised it will take a couple hours to replace. Glad it is under warrantly
Most likely this was like this for some time as I had the hard-start problem (which they told me was an indication of this problem). Plus I guess I also wasted alot of gas in the 10,000 plus miles I drove!
Just wanted to post the result as the vehicle is now getting fixed.
Could this have eventually caused an engine fire as unburned fuel was getting into the engine?
You might want to ask them if they changed the oil. Excessive fuel will end up in the oil and should be drained out. If they won't change the oil, have it done yourself.

Thanks for the info! I called them and they are going to change the oil and also all the spark plugs under warranty. I appreciate the heads-up!
I just got my truck back from the dealer. The truck has been running really bad. Rough idle, really bad gas mileage and noisey startup in the morning. Went to work the other day and the check engine light came on. Got the smell of gas in the cabin and when you step on the gas pedal the truck would limp up to speed with heavy vibration. I called the service dept and they said to drive it in. 40 miles. Turned out the #3 fuel injector failed in the open position. Ford replaced the injector, spark plug, oil and filter. Really disappointed in the 2005 Expedition, especially since Ford replaced this for my 2003 Expy that was a piece of crap.
