Deep cycle RV batteries....

When I winterized our 1975 Itaska RV this past fall I got to thinking about the two new HD deep cycle batteries in it. Can one of these be used in my 1995 E150 5.8L Tuscany Conversion Van as a replacement battery? I think I heard somewhere that the deep cycle batteries don't work well as the primary battery in automobiles. Thoughts and advice very appreciated. Thanks.
