Takes them a while to figure out what to change to make them. Just keep an eye out, they'll be out eventually. Are you sure they don't match older ones? That could be a reason too.
Did you notice any difference? What was the problem? I looked mine over and didn't see where there would be a problem. But then again I never attempted it like you did. Thanks for info.
Rockledge:
I have a feeling you are right on this one. They are a heavy wire I can see. I assume you are talking about the OEM wires. Do you have a reason why you say they are the best? Just curious. Thanks for info
The JBA wires are larger than the motorcraft wires. I did notice an improvement, but I can't say it was soley because of the wires. I replaced my plugs at the same time, and both the plugs and wires were shot.
The right bank is the WORST I have ever worked on trying to access the plugs...especially the #2 plug. I'm not a huge man, and my hands are tore up trying to get them in there. You almost need a kid to reach in there. If you're just replacing the wires, you can probably get by removing the mud guard on the right fenderwell. I had to remove the right front tire and the mud guard to get at the plugs. I have a 4.0. If you've got something different, it's probably easier.
tekrsq, I have the 4.0 too. The Ford Workshop Manual tells you to remove the splash guard from the right side to replace the Plugs. I can see that would be a job I don't want to do. Everything is in the way on my 05. I still do not understand why they do not have the same type of splash guard on the left side. Thanks for the great info. I think I will wait until I need them. PS, What did you use for Plugs?
The plugs I finished with (there's a loooooong story to that) are the Autolite AP5144. They're not what I wanted, but I have to admit I like the way the truck runs now. MUCH smoother with the new plugs & wires. I've done a few things to my truck over the last week (Roush Thunderbolt catback duals, Bama X-Cal 2 programmer, plugs, wires, air filter, EBC Grenstuff pads up front, Raybestos Superstops in rear) in an effort to get a little better performance and mileage out of her. I've got 73,000 on her, figured it was time to treat her a little bit. I've already noticed my gas gauge isn't dropping as fast. Really won't know for sure how much until I run a few more tanks through to compare the average.
$165 shipped to your door while supplies last. They fit the reg cab also, you just have to trim the center pipe. Took about 2 hrs to put on. These are closeouts, so when they're gone, they're gone.
I ordered one today, I hope they still have them. Is yours a 4X4? Do they send the hanger for the left side tail pipe. I don't mean to bug you too much but any help would be appreciated. How does it sound? Being an old man I don't want to disturb my neighbors. haha
Mine is 4x4. Everything is included, but you might have to buy 2 clamps for the tips. For some reason, some of the packages have the wrong (too small) clamps for them.
I LOOOOVE the sound. It's pretty "throaty" when it's cold (especially when you get in it, lol), but once it warms up, it has a nice, deep, growl, and it's not obnoxious at highway speeds. I've only had it on a week, but people tell me it will deepen up some more after a couple of months.
tekrsq, You are a life saver. I really appreciate you taking the time to answer my questions. I am reall looking forward to getting them now. Like an old man with a new toy. lol
