Headers and highflow cats, worth the $$$?
I was wondering if anyone is running headers and high flow cats?? Or just one or the other of them?? Is it worth the money to put them on?? I am thinking that this is the next performance option for me, since I already have the exhuast done and the Edge evo.
Let me know what you guys think!!
Thanks Paul
As for cats, normally (i haven't read about this truck specifically) cats are the biggest restriction in an exhaust. More power will come from new cats than headers or muffler.

Todays cat's are incredibly free flowing on a NA 5.4L. Would aftermarkets be better, I think so, but I don't believe that they are that much better.
The stocker headers flow about as good as a 2x4 bolted to the block with holes drilled in it.
I've installed a set of Gibson SS headers on a '02 F150 5.4L, and it wasn't a difficult job, but it did take all day. On the older F150s you do have to remove the wheels and the fender wells, I imagine that it should be very similar on the NBS F150's.
Personally I feel that Gibson has the best bolt-on header replacements....no drilling or welding required, and step by step instructions.
Here's some links you should find interesting. Keep in mind that these posts were on the 2v 5.4L, but it will be very similar to the 3v. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/s...d.php?t=444921
