6 Speed Auto Trans?

I just saw that Ford will be using the new 6 Speed Auto Trans in the new 07 Exp. Do you think that Ford will put that with the new 6.4L or stick with the 5 Speed? The six speed might be a nice option.

That 6 speed in the exp won't be able to handle the torque of the V10, let alone the PSD.

If we see a 6 speed, it will just be a variant of the current trans (which has 6 gears, just never uses them at the same time)

By the way, Welcome to FTE - the best truck site on the web!!!

They are. I went to the Houston Auto Show last night and spoke with a very knowledgable Ford rep (Bart, yes his name was Bart). He said that Ford is definately going to use TORQshift on the new 6.4. That brings me to my next point: there is quite a bit of truth to the 6.4s existance; however, it may not be out for the 2007 model year. Due to the *ahem* "issues" that occured with the 6.0 when it was first released, Ford is doing some extensive testing to make sure history doesn't repeat itself. Thus, the 6.4 MAY be released for the 2008 model year as opposed to the 2007 model year.

On Edit: The 2007 SD will more than likely make it's first appearance at the New York Auto show April of this year.

That's exactly what the Ford rep at the Houston auto show told me. Almost word for word.....

One of the latest rumors I've heard about some of the problems with the development of the 6.4 SD is that the heat off the turbos is causing the paint on the hood to burn off... but just a rumor nonetheless.

I am sure that things like that would happen in development.

A pretty easy fix, just some thermal insulation under the hood.
