Well I know now I need a pyrometer, but with my mods what do I have to add to tow heavy loads and keep the etgs at a safe level.

montain driving and sometimes I drive that combo like I stole it!
for your transmission, you need: shift kit (tugger or sonnax/springs), transmission cooler (as large as you can find) and also a temp gauge. get a dual or triple pod to put on your a-pillar, along with a boost gauge for the engine.
once you get gauges and that tranny mods, you can drive it like you stole it until you see the temps going up, then you need to either back out of the fuel or slow down. less pedal=less EGT's. i would also look at an intake, a 46637 "kwik filter" is both cheap and effective. search search search till your heart's content.
Thanks strokin_it7.3. Now thats some good info. If I have a Pyrometer, do I still need a boost gauge. Is the boost gauge to just see what the chip does? Or is it, still another safty factor? Do you think those parts for the trans. will void the warranty?
in addition to whats been said, one of the best things you can do is get a flip chip. so then you can adjust power/fuel on the go. there are 4 position and 6 position chips and you can have it burned with what ever tunes you want. for instance my 4 pos. chip has a stock, tow (+50hp), economy (+70hp) and H.O. (+130hp) setting. there are times when i will put it in the stock position while towing to control EGTs
hirschdale auto or manual tranny? I've just heard that they're service isn't very good and the module is often mistaken for the Diablosport Predator tuner (which is very good). Isn't the Dr. performance thing just an ICP mod like the banks six gun? I'd recommend changing out that dr. performance thing for a Diablosport Predator or a flip chip burned by Dp-tuner or TS performance.
I don't see any intake mods listed. Towing heavy with a chip and pulling air through the stock intake will hold the EGT's up...Especially in the mountains where there isn't enough air to begin with.

you've given up your warranty already. with anything you add to your truck ford is going to battle you with warranty, especially with preformance mods and larger tires
Thanks again guys.So you think th kwik filter 46637 is the way to go.I had the first trans go out at 12,000 miles and I already had the lift and tires on it,the dealer didnt seem to care.Second trans went out at 19,568 and no problem then either.Do you guys think they will freak out about the exhaust and an intake set up if I took the chip out and un did the battaries to reset everything.

The 6637 is the way to go. Mech has tested quite a few different setups, and this is the one he found to flow the best. Some may flow only slightly better, but I can buy a lot of 6637 filters at $30 shipped to my door, for what some intake kits cost.
I'm suprised your dealer didn't say something about the larger tires. That can put some extra strain on the batteries.
I don't know how your dealer would feel about the exhaust and intake setup. The Ford AIS is a good intake that won't void your warranty, but you'll pay for it too. I guess it depends somewhat on how well you know your service guys at the dealership.
In theory, unhooking the batteries should clear out any trace of a tuner, but I've read numerous times that they still somehow leave an electronic trace in the system. But, if your module is set up to work like a 6-gun, it just ties into the IPC, then it shouldn't leave any traces.
One possibility is to buy an extra PCM module from DP-Tuner and use that with a flip chip ...etc. Then if need be u can install the stock OEM PCM and leave no trace. Just my .02 worth.
Nut
Thanks for the input.I want to go out and get the stuff you guys told me about tomarrow, but I might have to take the chip out and hook up the trailer and blow up the trans for the third time and get one more free one and cross my fingers that it will stay together fo a while. Then put all the cool stuff on.

stuff doesnt break when you want or need it too. it always finds a way to break when you are needing to get somewhere important.
