Reason: add
I'm not a LAW enforcement officer, so there is no good ole boy thing going on here. I am, however, a taxpayer and have an expectation for the LAW enforcement officers that work for me to get unsafe drivers off of the road. To keep me and my family and friends safe. I personally think that the officer did not deserve to be reprimanded, no matter who's neighbor was inconvenienced. Now his attitude might need to be addressed, if he was arrogent. But someone that is a hazard on the road, or a potential harm to others in any way needs to be removed from that potential.
But back on topic, I really do like that comic. That is funny!

Now it looks like that most everybody is defending the "Cowboy" cop.
First: I was not stoned or drunk.
Second: As previously stated, the captain came to my defense because of the behavior of the cop, not because I knew him or that he was a distant neighbor. The cop was ticked, pissed or whatever at my refusal of a blood test. He could have taken the alcohol test if he wanted, but there is no cop going to get a blood test from me without a warrant.
Third: I was not a hazard on the road. I was fully alert. I just had the "Red Eye" syndrome from being awake for such a long time. I did not consider myself, nor did the captain consider me unsafe to drive the vehicle. Actually, the captain got my truck released from the tow yard, took me there to get it and then followed me home to make sure that I got there with no further hassels.
I understand your point of view as well pmasley. I think I would have been a little upset as well in your shoes. But police officers need to make questionable decisions every day, on a regular basis. I was not there so I can not make an informed judgement on this issue. On the same note, I am not going to question this officer's judgement as well. I would have to be in his shoes. That is something that none of us non-cop type people can come close to comprehending. They live with a totally different set of circumstances to deal with.
BTW, that is why cops tend to stick together. They understand the issues that each other are faced with.
I have cop friends and I can say they live a rather lonely life. Most people are intimidated by them and they are just folks like you and I. they have to make decisions that can adversely affect other's lives, to achieve the objective of their job. To protect and serve the people who might be hurt by other's actions.
It's a tough job.
That's a great cartoon. I have a picture taken by a Maine Trooper but the back of the car says, "Cops Suck Fat D***S". I'll let you fill in the rest! The caption simply reads, "Think he got a ticket?"
