Does anyone know if there is a way to set the alarm using the key or the keypad? I lost my remote opener and don't seem to be able to set the alarm using the key or keypad. I checked the manual and it only talks about setting the alarm with the remote opener.
From what I remember I didn't think the horn honk indicated the alarm is set. It was telling you that the vehicle systems are secure i.e. no headlights on all doors closed tight etc. I don't have a security alarm that I'm aware of. If I'm wrong someone help set me straight...
Ummm... I'm thinking the excursuin doesn't have factory security. I know my 01 doesn't have it and I can't remember if I've ever had to shut it down when adding a remote start.
Maybe some other Excursion owners could verify this for me. The way I test it is:
1. Sit in vehicle with door open.
2. Hit lock on the door and then close door.
3. AFTER dome light goes out count 30 seconds.
4. Pull your door handle to open door.
5. The horn should start honking if you have an alarm.
6. Shut alarm off with either your key fob remote, code on the door, or use your key in the drivers door and turn it to unlock.
Thanks for your help. I think it was a misunderstanding on my part. All other vehicles I had, the chirp or horn indicated that the alarm had been set. I guess in this case, it just indicates that all the doors are locked.
