As far as I am aware, the blow out problem was fixed in the 2001 or 2002 year SDs. I know after 2002, no more spark plugs were blowing out so yes, the problem has been solved for the 2006 model year.
The old heads only had 3 or 4 threads for the spark plugs so there were instances where the plugs vibrated loose and blew out. But this was fixed with the 10? threads in the PI heads when they were introduced around 2002 as G Lube mentioned.
so 2001 heads would have the minimal threads? How to you tell ifyou have the PI heads? Is there a casting number to look for?? Mine only has 49k miles, but I am still wondering if there might be a potential problem to watch out for on my truck
Krewat
have you physically looked to see how many threads you have in your heads? and how do you know you have the PI heads? Is there a part number or casting number to look for?

It has "PI" cast into the side of it. I'm pretty sure you can look through the wheel well at the rear outboard side of the head and it says PI in big letters.
When I recently did my plugs, I checked the holes with an inspection mirror and I can say with CERTAINTY that there were many MORE threads than 3-4.
More like 7-8 or maybe even 9-10.
And yes, the motor was never changed, and never opened, and the sticker on the valve cover says 10/2000 manufacture date.
I've heard plenty on here about "after such-and-such date, the heads were changed" or "PI heads were fixed", etc. etc. I have YET TO SEE any conclusive proof of that, and as an example, my 10/2000 motor has the PI heads and lots of spark plug threads, unilke the "2002" mentioned above.
